April brings......

April brings showers and flowers and tests!
I love the winter snow and cold... but I also love to see the cold go and the spring showers bringing the flowers and green grass. I love when we start working on bringing the pool in and getting our plants out.
We start talking about what to plant in the garden and what flowers need to be replanted around the back patio.
The hummingbirds have already started coming around looking for a drink... large butterflies are hanging around the backyard..of course our Cardinals have been around for a while as we have kept bird seed available for them during the frost!
It is an amazing time of year! We went to a little plant nursery in Denison yesterday- I wanted to take home several plants... I love to make the backyard just feel like an Oasis around the pool to share with family and friends... hopefully we will get a break in the rain soon to start really working on those things...
In the meantime, the front flowers have made their appearance... Iris, Indian Hawthorne, Roses... so pretty!

April is also testing in Texas schools... it is done in our elementary schools today... so now students and teachers alike can take an opportunity to breathe a little easier! They did a great job of preparing and students appeared to work hard in our classrooms and on the computers...

After a day of testing it is good just to get outside and enjoy the sunshine and watch the birds and butterflies and see the sweet flowers!

Spending Time is awesome!

We enjoy spending time with family! Love it when the kids come home and play or just visit!
We love to make it a special treat and make sure everyone is well fed and has fun...or rest..whichever they need!
Lately we have been getting to spend time with the newest addition to the family. She has been such a good baby. She has gone to the movies and was at church the first weekend she came home from the hospital.
It is fun to see how everyone makes sure they get an opportunity to hold her.
Here she is with her Pawpaw this weekend when we kept her on Friday and when she came over for a visit on Saturday and then her cute little Sunday dress!
Sweet little Bentley!

What's in a Name?

So... every time I show off my beautiful granddaughter the question comes up...What are they going to call you?
Of course we have always said....Whatever they come up with I suppose... but since the first one has been born and you take her in your arms you kinda wanna say something like "Come to grandma" or "Nana's got this"
We were talking about what Steve would be called... several asked if he would be pappaw and although that stirs so many sweet memories one day Steve leaned over little Bentley and said... I would love to be your pappaw but oh what a name to live up to! Pappaw was such a special man... adults loved him, children loved him, even animals loved him..... he had been a hard worker taking care of his family, he had served the church faithfully, he loved to spend time with family hunting, fishing, in the garden, playing... where ever he was. Yes... I think Steve is that man too... but for him.. it was just hard taking on that name... so... after a little thought I think Steve has become PawPaw... I need to make him a shirt with two paws on it!!
So of course conversations have turned to me... will I be Mers.. well.. Mers and MersP was my mom and grandmother.. they got their names from my nephew.. that was what he could say... and it stuck! They were both such special moms... giving to their family, taking care of others, serving the church and community...but no.. it just doesn't feel right taking on that "special" name that had been my mom... what about mammaw.. once again what a special special lady that did so much for others, her church and her community... that doesn't feel right either... When the name is said I look to see if she is still with us... making tea cakes and sewing special dresses for Ashley....So many names...
Ashley has really been leaning on calling me GiGi... LOL... not sure where that comes from... but it is different and fun... could I be a GiGi... I don't know... maybe... what will Bentley actually say... or perhaps it will be Cylus that speaks those words first... do I start saying things like "GiGi will hold you" or "let GiGi do it" just to try it out or see if it sticks.... hmmmm........I will love whatever they call me... just hope they call me often!!!

Last Week

Well we were not prepared for last week! We had just finished enjoying an awesome weekend with Ashley and Alex up for her baby shower. We had a chance to explore a junk yard and play out in the backyard and cook huge steaks for dinner. Sunday we attended church and Ashley's baby shower and had a lot of fun looking at baby boy things!!! He is going to be so spoiled!
We got a call on Monday afternoon that the doctor wanted Bobbie to meet him at the hospital....little did any of us know that Miss Bentley was going to be arriving ahead of schedule!
We spent Monday and Tuesday mainly at the hospital waiting for the arrival of our sweet little Bentley. Yes! I made sure I had my pink slim in my system every day for energy and blood sugar balance... I even had the opportunity to make sure Andy had his!!
Tuesday night Bentley arrived. She has been so easy so far...sleeps a lot!!!!
We got the kids home finally on Friday a little later than they had hoped for but all was good and we got them settled in and fed before heading to the house to rest a bit ourselves!
The rest of the weekend was awesome too! We got to see Bentley again on Friday night and Saturday as she got out for a visit!
Sunday we were really blessed with Ashley and Alex joining all of us for church and lunch. What a blessing to go from 6 on a pew the previous Sunday to 7!
So much happiness in our home! We thank God everyday for our health and now the health of this brand new baby girl!
Pictures below are of Bentley at the hospital showing off her big bow and then ready to leave in her dress and then at El Chico on Easter Sunday!

A little weekend fun

Well what a rainy several days it has been! It is gorgeous outside today but evidently that won't last long... and while it is sunny.. I am inside!
Last weekend we hit Friday worn out!! Steve and I went and got some dinner and then settled in to a redbox movie! Steve had to work on Saturday morning so we made it a somewhat early night.
I got a few things done on Saturday and then Steve got off work and we headed to Hagerman wildlife refuge. We didn't get to see much because it was closed for a hunt in many of the areas we like to go find deer.
Sunday was a great day of worship and lunch with the kids!
This week has started with a heavy load on Monday.
I guess we will be watching for storms tonight and going into Wednesday.

Spring Break

Well Spring Break is over! We had fun! The first part of the week was kinda laid back stuff- finishing up a bit of cleaning around the house but then Steve took off work the last part of the week.
We started by going to the movies on Thursday night- Steve decided to take me to see Cinderella- it was really good!
Friday we got up and had some Starbuck's on our way west out of town to get out of the rain and drizzle!
We stopped at Muenester at Fisher's and got cheese... then we saw the Red Necks with Paychecks vehicles pulling in! We had to check it out! While going out to Saint Jo where the event was coming together we saw the field of VW bugs! LOL! funny what some people will put out for our amusement!
We continued our journey to Lawton Ok... we were looking for Medicine Park- this was the first cobblestone community in Ok- it was pretty unique- we walked down the water's edge and checked out the ducks, geese and waterfalls.
Then we went into the Wichita Wildlife refuge and drove to the top of Mount Scott. It was so pretty looking down over the lakes- it was very very windy and cool up there.
After coming down the mountain we stopped by the visitors center and as we were leaving the park we came dangerously close to a wild buffalo- he seemed calm enough until there were cars on either side of him then you could tell he was agitated! We decided to stay in the car at that point! LOL! We came home through Davis and stopped and loaded up on fried pies! yum yum!
Saturday started another adventure- of course after breakfast at home from the bacon we picked up at Fisher's we went to Starbuck's and Lowes. Then we decided we would investigate the Wildlife refuge at Tishomingo! It was so different from yesterday's travels. We did see deer on our adventure and underwater buildings of the Washita Farms but mainly we laughed as our truck became covered in mud on those back roads. We learned where Bee and Butcher Pen Oklahoma was! Not that we will ever need to know again! LOL! I've added pictures of Medicine park and the buffalo at Wichita Wildlife refuge as well as the pink pistol car in Tishomingo and the deer at the Washita Wildlife refuge.
Now it is back to Monday and back to work! Until our next adventure!!!
